Current and future crop suitability webinar
Contact: Kaipara District Council
Research commissioned by Kaipara District Council and carried out by NIWA, Manaaki Whenua, and Plant & Food Research combines soil and climate data to determine suitability for six specific crops. NIWA’s work extends to provide Kaipara an insight into Kaipara’s future climate too.
Following the success of our last Kaipara Kai talk, we are incredibly excited to bring you another online research presentation.
Join online and listen to the speakers – Nava Fedaeff of NIWA, Brent Clothier of Plant & Food, and Malcolm Mcleod of Manaaki Whenua, who completed a climate and soil investigation for six specific crops in the Kaipara District. The study can be read at www.kaipara.govt.nz/kickstart/kai-for-kaipara, and was completed as part of the Kaipara Kai project, one of four Kaipara Kickstart projects funded by the Provincial Growth Fund.
Some key results the speakers will discuss include: the different types of soils of Kaipara District; the current climate of the area; the suitability of six horticultural crops; and the projected climate changes for the District.
The talk will be livestreamed here facebook.com/watch/KaiparaDistrictCouncil/. Anyone can attend.
Have a question for the speakers? You can submit it ahead of the 09 July talk by emailing KickStart@kaipara.govt.nz
